High performance cup costs less and is more environmentally friendly
Plastic injection moulding experts Amaray have created a new high performance beverage cup in association with Oxford based innovation business Bockatech. EcoCore has been developed to deliver a high performance environmentally-friendly packaging solution. The food and drink cup is a single material solution that is resuable. It offers thermal insulation. The solution is low cost as it uses minimal amounts of PP. A patented ‘no-seam lip’ gives a better seal so there’s less risk of drips.Built in insulation helps to keep beverage hot or cold as well as keeping hands at the right temperature. A super rigid body ensures that the lid stays on even when the cup is knocked or squeezed. A recent environmental impact study indicated a 70% reduction in greenhouse gases compared to twin-wall paper cups.
The New Plastics Economy report published in 2016, The Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the World Economic Forum warned that there will be more waste plastic in the sea than fish by 2050, unless the industry cleans up its act.
